The Ghost Canyon NUC is shockingly powerful given the size, but it relies on a mobile processor to get the job done. Can we still call it a desktop?

Well I could gut my old Acer Travelmate 5730 and put everything into an ATX case. That doesn't make it a desktop in my eyes. It's not just about form factor, it's also about performance. While it would occupy more space than a laptop, it doesn't perform any better. So I'd say, no. This NUC isn't desktop. It's a laptop in a fancy case.

Well, for that price this won´t sell very good. You can get a Mini ITX build AND pay someone for building it for you and still save a ton while getting more power and upgradeability. Better thermals also i guess. I wonder how much of those things they will sell and if they take a financial loss on purpose to show off what is possible? Can´t imagine they actually make money with this.

This has a form / function and ridiculous price premium that would have me thinking it was from apple.

Id rather build the same thing in a chassis that's 3-4L larger volume and save a grando in the process.

El Zoido:  9900k + RTX 4090 / 32 gb 3600mHz RAM / z390 Aorus Master

The Box:  3900x + RTX 3080 /  32 gb 3000mHz RAM / B550 MSI mortar
