Hi I have a questions regarding upgrades for my system

Specs:

I7 6700K @ 4.5 GHZ

GTX 1060 6gb OC edition Windforce

16 Gb RAM 3600 MHZ

I need help in wanting to know what is causing my fps in game to feel choppy and would a upgrade fix it?

I'd start with a GPU upgrade, you are stuck on the Z170/270 platform and there is no CPU upgrade path, but a better GPU will make a difference, with regards to gaming performance. Back with my i7-6700k going form the 1060 6GB to a 1080 made a noticeable difference. 

 

Right now the best value is the RX 5600XT or 5700XT.

The games I tend to play is Apex Legends and Call Of Duty Modern Warfare

Whenever I drop below on 90 fps the game because very choppy, could it be my monitor gsync not working well

The settings I play are low settings with shadows low at 1080p, Apex Legends and Modern Warfare 2019

CPU is still fine, Personally i would look into stepping the gpu up to a 2060 super or a second hand 1070/1080 of some kind

Plus with my monitor it keeps disabling g sync when it is on

maybe a little but not much, other option is keep ram, case (and psu if got) and just build a new ryzen rig.

I was probably thinking my monitor could be causing the issue but as you said the GPU is the factor

Is there any way to fix the flickering in my monitor which occasionally happens with gsync during loading screens. could it be that the monitor is not working properly
