Cyberpower PC RAM upgrade

So I am trying to upgrade my PC's RAM. It came with a single 8gig stick which is an ADATA XPG model number AX4U266638G19-BRZ1. I can't seem to find any info on that particular stick so I don't want to put the wrong one in. My motherboard says it is a Cyberpower PC B360M XTREME, CPUZ says it is manufactured by ASrock but i can't find any info on that from ASrock either, it is like they don't make it or something. If anyone has any info or has dealt with this in the past I would really appreciate any advice/tips. I just want to make sure any new RAM i get is compatible and I wont run into any issues.

The memory you do have is 2666mhz CL19 - hopefully I am reading that label correctly.

The easiest thing to do is to buy a 2x8 kit and just replace the single ram stick.  Yes I realize this is not optimal but it takes all the guess work out of the equation.

He could also just buy another stick and put it in one of the slots for the second channel which doesn't need to interact with the current module. Besides, realistically any half decent stick should work fine.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

As long as OP can find one cheap enough.  The ebay listing shown above is for $58 (single stick) but a new kit can be found for a little as $65 on PC Part picker.   For me (and this is just my opinion) having a matching set in case you wanted to upgrade again is better for very little extra money.

that would work, keep in mind that, that ram stick will not run at cl15, it will run at cl19. it can make troubles or not. it depends on hardware and luck. I have very bad luck myself.

I assume here that you are going to remove your original ram stick and then put the 2 new ram sticks onto the motherboard - right?

Be sure to place those 2 new sticks on the orange slots for dual channel performance.   The original ram stick you can sell later once you are sure everything is running as expected.

Why?  If OP replaces the original ram stick with the 2x8 kit?

That is what I was going to do. I will be sure to place them in the correct place, hopefully it works out just fine

and while you're up in them guts, get a better cooler.

assuming its an 8400/9400, it will still gain some quietness and maybe make the cpu last a little longer

if its an 8700/9700, you need it desperately

I have the same problem with my computer. The cyberpower pc extreme vr only came with 1 8gb stick of the same ram. Did you find a solution to this? and did it work?

I ordered new RAM sticks, these https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-16gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820231892?&quicklink=true they should arrive in the mail within the next few days. I'll let you know the results after I install them.

Finally got my new RAM installed. Makes a lot of difference, the lag and delay I used to get in Modern Warfare for example is pretty much gone. Definitely a good upgrade! I put two 8GB G-SKILL Ripjaws in. DDR4-2666C15D-16GVR
