a quad core i5 will consume 70 watts or so. An RX 560 will consume close to 100 watts. basically, you can get by just fine with a decent 400 or 450 watt PSU, which will give you a ton of room to upgrade.

Tier B and up is recommended, usually the CX450 is quite cheap.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

You could run your system on a good 400w powersupply.

It all depends on the quality of the specific unit.

So, what exactly is your current PSU? If it's a somewhat decent 1000w psu you really don't need to upgrade it. It's completely overkill. It's a bit like a laptop battery for a smartphone, it works perfectly fine, but insanely overkill.

Annoyingly, you will need to replace the PSU in that case because the one you have now just won't fit...

So, in your case, as other people said. a decent 400-500w PSU will be plenty.

A reputable power supply should be able to continuously provide the amount of power which it is rated for, if the PSU is of extremely questionable quality then it be represented by it's peak power output which is a red flag to look for especially on budget PSUs. Quality does not have anything to do with wattage necessarily, just because one PSU is good quality does not mean that it should be able to deliver more that the rated wattage (not peak wattage). There are many really cheap and bad quality power supplies available which are marketed to be able to deliver high wattage. If you are comparing a somewhat decent power supplies that are rated and tested for a certain wattage at continuous load, the better quality one is not necessarily going to be able to deliver reliable power at higher wattages than rated for continuously.

Hope this information post was helpful  ?,
