Low GPU usage resulting in low FPS

Running a GTX750Ti, some 2nd Gen Core i3, 8GB of Ram, Windows 10 64bit(I'm away from home and it's all I've got at the moment, only playing Warface). GPU usage is sitting ar 60~70%, FPS sitting at 40~50FPS. I have selected Prefer maximum performance in the Nvidia control panel BTW.

What is CPU usage looking like?

Is that overall usage or per core usage?

if you're using Task Manager, check the per-core usage by going into the graph, right clicking and change graph to Logical processors.

 

Now check what each core is doing, I have a sneaking suspicion this game will only be using one core.

That was overall. Each core seems to be under the same load, 30~50%.

Even when I disable V-Sync, GPU usage should crank up to 99% but it doesn't, remains in the 60% area. Correction, CPU usage sitting at 92% in-game.

This sounds an awful lot like:

1. a badly optimized game

or (more likely)

2. your CPU not being able to keep up with the game.

Not sure mate. Just tried out AC Revelations, same thing.

Assassins' Creed games are notoriously CPU intensive though.

Worked fine tho before I upgraded this machine to Win 10 last night from Win 7, so did Warface.

Should be noted that for some reason Windows installed driver 391.35, when I installed the latest driver the GPU reports Error 43(Device couldn't start)
