and do I need an amp?

not quite sure either I recently watched this:

and from what I could gather it seems to depend on what you are playing.

like the Sennheiser GSX 1000 he mentioned in the beginning might be great for 7.1 when you play single player games, but when you play competitive shooters it wouldn't make sense. You would often be better off with stereo sound to locate enemies, because most games don't support anything other than stereo sound.

Hi

I need a headphones for gaming and I heard that audiophile headset is way better than Logitech ,corsair etc.. gaming headphones

some suggested a Blue Mix Fi is it good for gaming ? , Mostly I game single player games and some multiplayer so i don't want to lose footsteps. Budget around 300-350$

and do I need an amp?

Thanks

well, I use a Sennheiser HD4.50, it's not an audiophile headset i mind you, but it has bluetooth and active noise cancelling even when connected via headphone jack, the audio quality is decent, it has a built in microphone (although I use an external XLR one) and comes at around 170$.

The ANC is a nice feature with loud computers and family members, if you have any

Main PC [The Rig of Theseus]:

Secondary PC [Why did I bother]:

CPU: AMD Athlon 3000G | GPU: Vega 3 iGPU | RAM: 8 GB DDR4 3000 MHz | Case: Corsair 88R | PSU: Corsair VS 650 | SSD: WD Green M.2 SATA 120 GB | Motherboard: MSI A320M-A PRO MAX | OS: Windows 11 Pro for Workstations

Laptop:

Model: ThinkBook 14 Gen 2 AMD | CPU: Ryzen 7 4700U | RAM: 16 GB DDR4 3200 MHz | OS: Windows 11 Pro

Sony SAL-75300 75-300mm ƒ/4.5-5.6

Meike MK-50mm ƒ/1.7

PSA: No, I didn't waste all that money on computers, (except the main one) my server cost $40, the intel NUC was my old PC (although then it had 8GB of ram, I gave the bigger stick of ram to a person who really needed it), my laptop is used and the second PC is really cheap.

I like tinkering with computers and have a personal hatred towards phones and everything they represent (I daily drive an iPhone 7, or a 6, depends on which one works that day)

Are you gaming with the bluetooth function? If so do you notice any lag?

I usually use the cable since my pc doesn't have a bluetooth card, the ANC still works, according to the reviewers there is a lot of lag, I haven't experienced any, but as I said I don't usually game with bluetooth

Do you ever take them outside or do you find them too bulky? I was wondering about it since I can get those relatively cheap and the sound seems to be pretty good at the price point.

I use them outside, the range is ok, I can leave the phone downstairs and go upstairs and I can still use them, the battery life is absolutely amazing, I get around 36H with noise canceling.

They aren't very bulky and they are quite light, I can use them all day without them getting uncomfortable.

My only problem is that the earcups are a bit too small, your mileage may vary

its like the difference between a custom built and a per built pc the prebuilt can do thae trcik but you dont have a choice in terms of what you are getting they can just cheap out on certain parts  most ofthen in headsets the driver or mic quality and lure you in with a gamer aesthetic and rgb. higher tear $300 headsets are mostly not bad actually if you have the cash and dont mind the potential compromises the company made then iyour good.   in this case at this budget you can even get away with not even using a amp/ dac and just use your motherboard and spend more money on a headphone by itself easy to drive headphones in the market like the hd 58x, and hd 599 and not even use an amp/dac. as motherboard audio does the same thing mind you not as good but if its clean will do the job fine. for gaming I generally reccomend spending more on the headphone itself rather than any other portion of your setup. just like spending more on your graphics card the driver itself is the biggest thing that makes a difference with audio not the usb dongle, or an amp/DAC
