Limit switch on arduino

Sub2pewdiepie

I am trying to make a homemade h shifter to go with my steering wheel that i have had for a while. I am making it by placing limit switches at the ends of each shift placement which are wired to an arduino leonardo. I am wondering how i can program the limit switches to be numbers on my keyboard so that i can set them to individual shits

I am also trying to connect potentiometers to the clutch gas and brake to be able to simulate different types of pressure on a pedal. I am wondering how to set this and if there is any software that i can download that will make this process easier and help me test that each of the switches and potentiometers are working properly
