Software vs hardware raid

Hi guys, I want to have two ssds in raid 1 as a scratch disk. What would be the best way to do this, what software / what raid cards are the best? Thanks.

I recommend hardware RAID - If something happens to the software then your RAID will be gone,also you can't use the RAID you made with one OS in a different OS.

Ok yeah that was kind of the vibe I got from people, do you have any recommendations to point me in the right direction as for what to buy? They all seem kind of "old" to me, is it common to have latency for raid cards or is it kind of "if it goes it goes properly"?

You could use the hardware RAID controller that is built-in AMD chipsets,

AMD implemented this feature into it's chipsets ever since the Phenom era,I am not sure about first gen Phenom but second gen Phenom and newer has it.

If it's from a consumer motherboard, it's software or fake RAID (firmware RAID) and not hardware, FYI. You can also do software RAID inside the OS, with Storage Spaces, etc. You probably don't need hardware/dedicated RAID.
