Samsung 970 Evo Plus temperature "too high"

Marman

Hi all,

According to Samsung Magician at idle my Samsung 970 Evo Plus is running a temperature "too high" at 58C.

I don't have any extra heatsinks or anything on it, since NAND wants to be warmer than cooler. But this makes me wonder is Samsung Magician reporting the controller temperature which is too hot? It also seems weird that it is so high when at idle. If I set all my fans to max it comes down to 48C.

Interestingly HWiNFO is reporting as "Drive Temperature 58C" "Drive Temperature 2 72C" (Though max of 77C)

I wonder if #1 is controller and #2 is NAND or something?

Should I get heatsink for the controller or something?

Thanks

Welcome to the Forums!

Not really too much to be concerned about in my eyes, I've had a 970 Evo for a long while and it does the same thing even with a heatsink. The temp is usually the controller and can even spike up even higher for per-longed reads or write loads. As long as the NAND itself isn't pushed to 75C constantly I wouldn't worry much.
