4770k @ 45* Idle - To hot?

Finished re-applying thermal compound on my rig yesterday. It's 8 years old and was running on the original thermal stuff from my H100i. It was like hard and crusty 😬

I purchased some Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut. Disassembled, Dusted, Cleaned and applied.

It's currently idling around 45C now. That seems higher than it should be. I'm thinking user error, maybe I didn't put enough or something? OR is that normal?

since it's well within safe parameters, only the load temps matter.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

It’s definitely safe.  Anything under 60c matters not at all, and anything under 75c still arguably matters not at all.  The question is is what does it do on a stress test?  If it stays under 75c it just doesn’t matter imho.  If it doesn’t stay under 75c it still may not matter.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

I’d only be concerned about the load temps. Guess it depends on how it’s running and voltage.
Mine idles around 25-30 on a custom loop and delided.
