I’m wanting to upgrade my gpu in the near future. I want something that is a nice upgrade but won’t be overkill for the rest of my system. I would like to have a freesync card since my monitor supports it, unless you think it doesn’t matter.
Specs for it are

Ryzen 5 2600

Asrock B450m Pro 4

16 gigs DDR4 at 3200

Msi Radeon RX 580

120 gig nvme boot drive

1tb WD Blue HDD

My cpu is currently running at stock speeds until I get a better cooler (which will happen before getting a new gpu) and I plan on getting another m.2 500gb for my games a program storage.
I don’t play a ton of big titles, really on fortnite is the biggest. I do use photoshop and Lightroom and Lightworks as well, but I haven’t had much problems with them. In fortnite I’m averaging around 60 fps

from team green, rtx 2060 super  (not as good as rx 5700/5700 XT but still decent)

I’m looking around 400 or less

5700 XT is your best bet. Both AMD and Nvidia support Freesync. 2060 Super only matters if you care about Ray Tracing.

Here's a 5700 XT in your budget:
