Microsoft should make a separate OS in windows 10 that stops every process in the pc but the necessary for the game
An OS like in consoles the interface is simple that would put Microsoft windows in a higher rank
That OS shall boost the fps of games and reduce legs. nothing affects your game. And I see that booting to that OS instead of windows will be better because no start-up apps will load on the ram and the processor. The PC boots to a simple OS that only cares of what are you playing. May be there will be a switch in the bios between windows 10 and that OS.
Many gamers will see the improvement that OS will give. I think this will be a revolution in gaming PCs and weak PCs as most PCs today can't fire a game on 60 fps. that OS would push it to 50-60. Because these PCs weren't working correctly because the background apps and the forced system services take part of the ram. But in a separate OS the work is different it reduces the services as there are a little background apps and just one foreground and it is the interface. The summary:
I suggest that Microsoft make a separate OS beside windows to make the hardware of the PC concentrated on the game you are working without any background disturbances. And you won't get disappointed because your PC is not fast enough or your storage is near full. Your gaming won't get affected with your normal desktop status it. It will work as there is nothing on your PC but the game you are playing.

There are lots of programs that try to disable unneeded programs, but most of them come to the conclusion that it doesn't help much. They have one built into windows with game mode.

Part of what makes consoles able to optimize better is the single hardare configuration. Where with pcs you need to build for many difference performance levels.

Microsoft has a feedback channel... and they also have one for previewers, you might want to get involved there if you want your suggestion to take shape and be implemented.

Now I am being serious here, the previewers have influence on the Windows design feedback so with that I strongly suggest you get involved ... posting something here wont grab Microsoft's attention.

And lose out on that tasty telemetry? No way!

You could try setting a higher priority to your video games. Windows is already pretty decent at keeping its background tasks in check. You could also... write your own program to handle this.

Maybe because its designed that way? Windows is not, and there are quite more of those who enjoy multi-process capabilities (of which lacking was early failure of iOS) than those who would like OS halting all other processes (or give limited access) except game.

Like said, you can do this with software, multiple ways actually. There's Windows own game mode, there are crappy game boosters, you could create script that terminates any unneeded process while script is running etc.

Yes. Windows already does this with process prioritization.

You may check how many frames can you increase easy way. Just kill as many processess as you can (even if you must restart computer after playing game) and check if FPS is higher. Nothing wrong happens, you can't destroy system that way, just kill basically everything. If you kill too much processes - remember which one is really needed and not kill it next time.

Too much work? Of course, but it's not because it's method to increase FPS number. It should prove you that even if you kill almost everything, you still end with the same number of frames per second, +/- 2 max.
