Can you run wireless VR on a laptop?

So my school wants to run portable VR setups. They want to use laptops which is fine if you want to run wired VR. The issue is wireless VR with the HTC vive requires a Pcie Wi gig card and I don't know of any laptops with Pcie card slots on them. Is it possible to buy a powerful enough laptop and than use an external GPU enclosure to connect that wi gig Pcie card to the laptop? Does that work, if not I am open to any suggestions on how to make this work or any other easier ways to do this.

What you listed is actually the only way to do it. The oculus quest has wireless but there is a lot of latency on it. Make sure the laptop in question has a thunderbolt port and you should be good to go.

no because i don't think that a gpu enclosure uses the same pcie slot as a wireless connector. (to my knowledge you will have to double check this)
