Is your monitor a lower end one? Some displays had horrid implementations and the hardware was buggy

its quite a nice on actually, msi optix 24” 144hz

I'm willing to be 10$ it's MSI's firmware that's the issue - I've never seen properly functioning MSI software in my life, afterburner included.
