My Ryzen 5 2600 is running at 80 degrees celsius at 5% usage...

So I have a ryzen 5 2600 in my PC, and as the title states, it's running quite hot at 5% usage.... what could be causing this and how do I fix it?

You should probably check your cooler. Check wether you left the plastic film on the cooler coldplate, or if it's mounted properly.

The cooler shouldn't move when you try to move it while it's attached.

Already checked both of them, the plastic isn't there, and the cooler will not move.

Okay, so by extention you've checked the fan right? Though, at that load I don't think it would get that hot even if the fan was off.

It might be a faulty tempreture sensor in the CPU, which means you might have to send it back.

I believe the warranty on Ryzen is 3 years.

The sensor seems okay, I just checked the bios and the temps are averaging at 30 degrees I think my readings on the application I'm using are faulty, I'll try something else.

Reboot, get into BIOS, what is your BIOS temps reporting at true idle?

True idles in BIOS are 20 - 30 degrees (celsius).

That sounds accurate for idle.  As you noted above, try another monitoring program :)

Speecy is known to have issues with sensors on Ryzen's plateforme. ( I mean, it's just a bad software overall anyway. )
I suggest you to check temperatures with Ryzen master or Hwinfo64.

Use HWiNFO and not HWmonitor.  It's more accurate and doesn't misreport CPU speeds.  Also in HWiNFO look at Tdie and not Tctl.  Tctl has the added 10*C thing that that generation Ryzen does.
