Hi, I need help, I have a school assignment about the AMD and Intel war, but I am not sure what to fill the space between the hook and thesis statement and I could use some others point of view.

"Whenever a conversation with PC enthusiasts comes around about computers the question will almost always arise, “do you prefer AMD or Intel?”.                                                       For almost 50 years both AMD and Intel have been at war with each other and with the rise of better technology in CPUs like higher core and thread counts, boost frequencies, power efficiency and price, have had people discussing who is better in both the gaming division, productivity and big boy server chips."

The underlined space is what I need and I figured I could have you guys to help me, it doesn't need to be a very long introduction because the whole assignment is only five to six pages. Help

EDIT!!!!!! I have almost completely finished the whole assignment, well rather the rough draft but it shouldn't take too much after that to finish it. I plan on sharing it with everyone on here after I finish it completely so you guys can cringe at it.

EDIT #2!!!!!! Here's the essay guys, its finally done, rather its done to the extent that my teacher will let us do!

It sounds fine just the way it is now.

You provide the context and then go into describing it

Yeah I think that its fine but my teacher says that it needs just a bit more filler for the middle, my plan is to take up 1/2 to 3/4 page for the introduction so I have roughly 3 and 3/4 pages for the bodies

You could provide a bit more context on why the cores, single core performance, power efficiency, price, etc. matters.

There are is a plethora of different choices that can be made when you are building a PC. You may build your PC to play games, or you may build it for video editing? Maybe you're a professional stock market agent. Different use-cases will require different aspects of a processor to be great, so PC enthusiasts and the like have been debating for over 50 years at this point, who is better; AMD or Intel?

It's difficult to give a final answer on which is better, as you will always be dealing with different aspect of a CPU, like the amount of cores, the speed of those cores, but the efficiency is also of importance.

In this paper I will be giving a background on the advances in the technology of both companies and who has been ahead of the other over the past half a decade.

Things that might be gone into:

the history of AMD and intel (multiple pages available there) the concept of price/performance.  Intel has usually made (until quite lately) higher capability chips.  They just charged a lot more money for them.

Types of costs.  Chips are moderately cheap to make but expensive to design.

the concept of duolopoly.  The other dead competitions (Cyrix, via, etc..)

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

I really like how you just rephrased my whole introduction paragraph and adds more to it, do you mind if I take parts of this and reword it so I can use it?

I have my points that consist of the bodies but this is good for someone else who decides to write an essay.

Ah, teachers teaching you now to do what future teachers will try to teach you to stop doing...

(sigh)

Let's try:

Instead, we've sold our souls to the wonders of multiple threads, high clocks, game cache, and mysterious IPC gains, and we are starting to feel the clay feet of speculative execution and secure enclaves rotting us from the inside. Now we gloom silently, as we contemplate the sins of our fathers come back to haunt us, praying to delay the inevitable. For almost 50 years both AMD and Intel have been at war with each other and with the rise of better technology in CPUs like higher core and thread counts, boost frequencies, power efficiency and price, have had people discussing who is better in both the gaming division, productivity and big boy server chips."

Full enough? :P

Take it, it's all yours.

Use it as inspiration, but be sure to give it your own spin.

Haha that is great I'm going to send that part to my teacher I think she'll get a kick out of it, but this whole concept of writing and essay that will help you out in your future is stupid considering I plan on going into automotive engineering

That would be a good thing to mention and why amd and intel still survived.

You can relate that now amd is also fighting on the gpu battlefield against nvidia, which for a company of that size is quite a feat to be mentioned.

Hey, just wondering about your arguments. Could you please share the finished paper here? I'm looking for case studies and examples of the megahertz / gigahertz war between AMD and Intel (my arguments are basically taken from Mercury Research so far).
