Been a while since I've built my own PC. I already have the case and power supply from a build I never finished. I also plan on using an 2x120mm AIO and mounting it on top but PC Part Picker doesn't allow me to. With this case, would I only put the intake fans on the front? Any suggestions on things to change?

It's possible the case in question has 140mm vents but no 120mm holes I guess.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.

Life is like a bowl of chocolates: there are all these little crinkly paper cups everywhere.

The PSU is not the greatest in terms of quality, the new CXm models are much better, but since you already own it I guess you can use it for the time being. Otherwise looks good, only thing worth changing is the SSD, get an NVME drive, costs less, and is faster, so why not.

The only 140mm ones are in the front. It comes with a 120mm fan in front already. I was getting the two pack to put another in the front and one on the bottom of the case.

There was a Seasonic Focus I was considering but I wasn't sure if I wanted to go for it since I already have a power supply. On one hand, it's only about $60 but on the other, it's $60 I don't necessarily need to spend.

Keep your PSU then upgrade it in a year or two, and sell the old one. The upside is that it is 750W so your system won't stress it to hard at all.

Hmm. I wonder if it'd be better if I went with the RX 5700 XT in a Razer Core X. I was able to get that Gigabyte one for $370 on eBay. With a Razer Core X, it'd total to about $650-700, depending on what deal I find on eBay. I'd save about $700 over buying that desktop and I could put that difference into a 144 Hz monitor. I have a pretty capable laptop already (ThinkPad X1 Extreme Gen 1 with i7-8750H, 32 GB RAM, and 2.5 TB of SSD storage). Thoughts on that?

Big nono!

Destop is better in so manny ways

Especially with B450 you get a solid and future proof platform you will be able to use and upgrade for years to come!

besides that a 5700xt will be bottlenecked a bit by the core and it’s 3.0x4 connection.

NOT WORTH THE MONEY and the hassle. eGPU is NOT perfect

oh and the 8750H will be B U S T E D by the 3700x

so yeha get the desktop :)

FOLDING MONTH 2021! GOGOGO and save on some heating costs 🙂

Alright. I'll just get a better monitor down the line. Swap out the 2 TB WD SSD from my laptop with that 1 TB Crucial one. Only issue is I put my documents folder in my D drive and it's going to be a pain in the ass to fix things up.

If you want the portability of a thin and light laptop, but want to game, then I think it is a good idea but expect a 20-30% performance loss through an external GPU setup, still not a bad idea. My brother has gone that route (previously had dedicated gaming builds), he has a nice dock setup at home for his laptop, once connected with a single thunderbolt cable, it charges his laptop, connects the external GPU, and his two displays. Some people aren't a fan of this (i personally love a dedicated PC) but for many it makes more sense. If you aren't a competitive e-sports gamer then this would be more than good enough. If you like the idea I would go for it.

Nope.  The problem with egpu is there is both a lag issue and a max bandwidth issue.  Even a 5700xt is a waste in an egpu.  The most you can fit in an egpu and not have (much) wasted performance is an rx580

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.
