Convince me not to buy HE400s

Hey guys!

 

Been looking for a pair of headphones around $200.

 

I listen to Classical, Jazz and Progressive Rock, so I'm interested in very clear mids/highs and a good soundstage (I'm also interested in what to look for other than what I've researched )

 

I was looking at the HiFiMan HE400s which are ~$180 but I figured I'd ask for some input before making the purchase, since this is something I really care about.

 

Please stay below 50 Ohms, I'm not ready to drop additional cash on an amp

 

I could go up in price, but not higher than $250 and only if it's really worth it.

Well.. Yeah its a good choice, but the hd 6xx's with a $100 schitt magni amp still will do absolute WORK.

If a headphone + amp combo that's under $250 will make my pants fly off I'll consider it

Welp… Ig not, unless the 6xx's go on sale further (lol no, they're literally the 650's at less than half price before their never-ending $20 [or is it $30?]) off. So probably a $300 bundle : /

Not out of the question in the medium term, actually. But I'm suffering from I WANT IT NOW syndrome and I don't mind having the one midrange pair now, then upgrading 6 months or so down the line

I'll reiterate to you something that's been drilled into me by members of a different forum over years of buying cheap microphones to "slowly upgrade" my locker.
Don't buy things you're going to replace in a few months or a year, it's better to just wait and get a quality part you'll keep around for the long haul.

Normally I would agree, here I'm allowing myself because I know for a fact I'd be handing down this pair to my brother
