What cable is this?

Bit of a silly question but... I've been out of the PC building scene for a couple years and offered to help identify a cable for a friend... I was immediately stumped. 

Even if it isn't directly related to the CPU and Motherboard, I wasn't sure which other category to put it under... It's definitely an internal, PC building cable, though.

USB 3.2 Gen 2/3.1 Gen 2/Type C internal header (for the USB Type C port on your case).

Your motherboard may or may not have it. If it does have it, it will be on the right side, close to the 24 pin ATX connector.

 

What motherboard do you have?

I don't have anything higher than USB 2.0 on *my* motherboard... this is my friend's photo. No wonder I haven't seen it before! My stuff is too old

Oh haha. I kinda asked what motherboard 'you' have (or I guess your friend has), so I could check where/if it has this connector.

So if he won't connect it, keep in mind the USB Type C port on the case won't do anything.

Yup, I've got the same situation but older... My USB 3.0 ports on my case are disabled cuz my mobo doesn't support it. Think that's what she's got but w/ the Type-C. I'll make sure she knows
