GPU seems to be idle inside Task Manager

Hello folders!

 

I have a question for you.

 

I recently started folding (following Linus video), on the web interface and on the advanced control window, my GPU (AMD Radeon 5700 XT) seems to be running, however when looking into the task manager, the GPU stays around 0% of usage. Do you have any idea why? Is it still the same problem regarding this GPU? I asked pretty much the same question here 3 or 4 months ago and someone told me that this GPU was not yet supported by the Folding@home project. Is it still the case ?

It will look idle. Download GPUz you will see it under load. 



Where I see on my video card is with Cuda. So, different type of load vs 3d load.

Task Manager is not going to report GPU usage for this program. You can see actual GPU usage by opening the Radeon Software and looking at the performance metrics sections.

Folding doesn't use any of the workload types that Task Manager detects - video encode/decode, 3D or copy. The load is there, but Task Manager just doesn't detect it.

Actually it does. 

I changed the item monitored to cuda. You can see it 100%

By Default cards won't show that graph.

I guess Compute 1 is the equivalent of CUDA? (Can't find it on the list).

Stream processors, yeah. Basically CUDA but with a generic name.

I am always learning something when I'm coming here. Thanks again for taking the time.

 

I have just noticed that you were from New York and that @DrMacintosh was from California, so I've just wanted to wish you good luck and mighty patience.

This is my third week confined inside my flat here in Paris (with my two 3 years old kids) and time is getting very very slow...
