2666mHz RAM on a 2400mHz motherboard

So I'm on a pretty tight budget here and I'm currently looking at RAM and Mobos. The CPU I have chosen is the Intel i5 9600KF (which supports up to 2666MHz) but the motherboard which I'm looking to buy is 2400/2133MHz, but it supports XMP. So my question is can I buy a 2666MHz RAM and use it. Are there any risks or potential wear on certain parts and stuff like that.

Don't buy a 9600K. It's not worth the money as the R5 3600 is better in almost every way possible. Not to mention the Ryzen CPU runs cooler, uses less power and has better security
