Choosing gpu

Go to solution Solved by Jurrunio,

sounds like 1st option is better, as 1660 is poor for 1440p 60fps in many games. I myself woild look to make the other parts worse and get the 3600 though, or even the 3500/3500x if they are available

Good morning to everyone

i will make it simple: i'm building a new gaming pc and i must choose my cpu and gpu between these two combinations:

1) ryzen 5 2600x + rtx2060

2) ryzen 5 3600 + gtx1660

All parts listed are NEW

the 2600x is a lot cheaper than the other so with the remaining budget i could buy a 2060 (in my country new for 350€) instead of a 1660 (240€ new).

what would you recommend? The other parts are quite good so don't worry.

i'm aiming to 1440p with at least 70/80 fps so 144 is overkill for me.

Thank you for your time :))

as mentioned above, i think you might want to gimp a bit on other parts such as rgb ram and just stick to regular ram so you can have more budget for CPU+GPU. Or get a cheaper but more functional case than those expensive hotboxes. either way, if you think you can compromise on your other components, 3600+2060 is the better option. otherwise, option 1.

Im with the mentaility of "IF IM NOT SURE IF ITS ENOUGH COOLING, GO OVERKILL"

Thank you for the fast response, btw i have already squeezed down the budget on case, ram etc. So the listed two seem to be my only options (and like you said the rtx one). btw the cpus you listed are not available in the store i'm looking at.

I have already squeezed the budget down on the other parts so it's really those two options, i'll go with option 1 like you said :))

the new 1600af is a 2600 but like 80 dollars so you could squeeze in a rx 5700xt for like 20 more dollars which would give you almost 2070 super performance
