Getting closer to finish up my budget build.

Been a while since I used the thermal paste.

I've heard there are actually pads i.e ic graphite pad that are actually doing very well? Even linus tested it.

Thoughts on going with pad for the 3600 with Cooler Master Hyper 212 ?

Thanks

I don't trust those pads, just yet. Maybe later

The scraper is good for bare gpu cores as well.

Do you already have the cooler? Like most aftermarket coolers, it comes with decent paste already.

Graphite pads work pretty well but they do deform over time and need replacing after enough uses. https://www.pugetsystems.com/blog/2018/12/03/Graphite-Pads-vs-Thermal-Paste-Which-Is-Better-1292/

I personally find thermal paste to be more economical.

Pads are for laptops as a place and forget option (zero maintenance).  They work but are not ideal for desktops if you are overclocking any processor, but may work ok as a mount and forget option for stock speeds.  On a hot running Radeon r9 290X video card, the Panasonic graphite Soft PGS+ pads are a few degrees worse than Kryonaut.  I've heard pretty bad things about Carbonaut pads.

I see it has a "knife" to spread so the technique all over the cpu instead of dot in the middle?

How ever you like, i use the dot method.
