Massive lag spikes while gaming

Go to solution Solved by maizenblue,

The one 8gb stick of ram could be a potential issue in some games, although i doubt it would account for MASSIVE lag spikes.

in battlefield 1 I had some occasional stuttering that was solved by going from 8gb to 16 gb(2x8). Just make sure u dont just buy any ram. U want the same exact type of ram if you add another 8gb stick.

I have recently played COD War Zone and i get about 40 - 80 FPS in game with lag spikes that go as low as 10 FPS. I have all the settings to low and i still get this FPS, the link below is to my current build. https://pcpartpicker.com/user/TheRealSkeb/saved/T4NPnQ Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well afaik, War zone is the battle royale mode of COD, right?

You only have a HDD so it's most probable that this is the reason for your "lag" (which is just stuttering) as the disk loads the parts of the map you are looking at ;). Also, the single stick of 8GB of ram really isn't helping matters either, especially paired with the rather powerful hardware you have.

Definitely wouldn't be unnecessary going forward.

i mean, i7-7700 should be decent for another year or two, if you want a quick fix, just get another ram stick.
