Simplest Virtual Machine?

Looking for something that can simply run a handful of Windows XP programs that don't run in Compatibility Mode. I don't want this taking up tons of space or being super complicated. Can anyone recommend a good, reliable VM for this kind of simple task?

I'm guessing compatibility mode means OP is on a later windows version.

My experience is limited to virtual box, it's fairly simple and it's free. No idea about other options though.

hyper-v is the best intergrated into windows and gives you a lot of features and works well.

Does that mean what am I on? I'm on Windows 10. Sorry, thought it was obvious.

So virtual box seems to be frequently recommended.

I still need a copy of fully licensed Windows XP right?

yea all the vms still need licensing. If you want to do this fully correctly, oses may need differently licenses for running in a vm.

Talk to the provider of the software, but for xp, it doesn't really matter, its eol anyways.

Normally works better in windows and is faster, but virtual box works fine too.
