New PC dual monitor issue

So I spend all my money on a new rig. 9900X, 2070 Super, 32GB @ 3600mhz etc. I am saving for a new monitor now so I am using two of my old 27" 60mhz monitors. But I cannot play a video game on one monitor and watch a video on the 2nd monitor. The monitor that is not selected is really choppy, lag like hell. My video card only have 1 HDMI port rest is DP but my monitors do not support DP so one is plug directly into the HDMI the other one use a adapter DP to HDMI. When I was using my laptop and connected one of the monitor as a 2nd I did not have any issues. All drivers are up to date and I do not use GeForce Experience. Any help is much appreciated.
