Hey Friends!

I'm still confused whether to buy Corsair CS550M used for 2yrs for 27$ or buy a new VS550 for 36$.

I know Buying used PSUs aren't that worth but CS550M is a good semi modular and 80+ gold efficiency Whereas VS550 isn't!

are you able to test the used psu or get a warranty? if you can and it works well do so.

I bought a used CX650M and it's been going strong for 3 years. Used hardware isn't that bad, it all depends how much you pay for it.

Personally, I'd go with the new one for a few dollars more in this case.

Or, you know, do a few hours more work and get a significantly better quality unit.

if you do the wrong things, a seasonic can burn too...

except if you have the tools to test a psu properly, you shouldn't attempt to buy them used. CSM is decent and is the groundwork for what currently is the TXM Gold, but has been EOL for a while and even if the price looks attractive, a PSU and storage are what in my eyes should always be bought brand new.

VS isn't terrible, but as it's group regulated, you shouldn't use it in anything more than a low power apu or at best a low-end gpu like a 1030 or so.

do you have any other options outside of corsair, maybe for a little more?

There's some Coolermaster basic edition for same price used and a corsair RM850X for 55$ with 7yrs warranty but I'll have to borrow some money from my friends and don't even know will I get em or not!

It's not from a company! It's from a user who isn't using it! Anymore

how about this one?

https://in.pcpartpicker.com/product/Q7L7YJ/corsair-cx-2017-450w-80-bronze-certified-atx-power-supply-cp-9020120-na

or if you want a second 8 pin pcie for future use (strix only has a single one from what i can see, so the 450w version would be fine)

cx430 and cx450/550 have nothing more in common than the company that makes them (CWT with Corsair) and the first two letters. internally they're two totally different PSUs based off two totally different platforms
