Why is the audio better with the Firestick?

? I noticed that the sound is a lot better through Amazons Fire stick than if I were watching the exact same shows through my Xfinity box. Why is this the case?

Better hardware and software? Amazon has a better setup than Xfinity.

Most likely the source they are using, and the format its stored in. Either way neither of them have a DAC in them, so it's a difference on the digital side of things.

LTT's Resident Porsche fanboy and nutjob Audiophile.

Main speaker setup is now;

Mini DSP SHD Studio -> 2x Mola Mola Tambaqui DAC's (fed by AES/EBU, one feeds the left sub and main, the other feeds the right side) -> 2x Neumann KH420 + 2x Neumann KH870

(Having a totally seperate DAC for each channel is game changing for sound quality)

Settings probably. Don't know anything about your amplifier, output you choose (rca, digital), volume level you set on output (if there is an option), input used in amplifier, additional software or hardware sound "enhancements" (that may decrease quality of sound very often) etc.

Well, I'm not using any sound enhancements, and the volume will sound a lot better on the Fire stick even at level 50 than it will through the box with the volume set at 80, even 100. I find that to be absolutely astounding.

If you're using a 4k Comcast box, they have known audio level problems, it's all over their support forums. Before I got rid of them in favor of greener pastures, I'd have to turn my sound bar up to around 95% to get decent volume. All other sources only needed to be around 15%.

? Oh I don't if I have a 4K box. Where would I check to see? This might be why the sound is so atrocious.
