Cooler and MB for i9 9900k?

Go to solution Solved by Dedayog,

VRM's are good til 100c or so.  Are you sure you're understanding the issues with your motherboard?

So I upgraded my computer a couple months ago and I was somewhat misinformed via tomshardware...

I chose a strix z390-h gaming MB for my i9 9900k and a h100i rgb pro, I was told it would be good at stock. I see the error in my ways now... although its not unusable the VRM temps may reach around 47 degrees Celcius.

The cpu on the other hand isnt terrible temps but from what I see online from other people they are getting slightly better temps whilst playing a game on the same settings with the same specs except different motherboards and coolers.

I now feel the need to upgrade my computer, again lol. (rip my wallet dude) I was looking at the gigabyte z390 aorus pro but I don't know a good cooler that can keep the i9 9900k nice and cool.

Can anybody give me any recommendations? My budget is like $420.00 CDN Custom water loops aren't off the table but if I can get something cheaper that will work almost as good as a closed loop water cooling system that'd be kinda cool but I know that's sorta unrealistic.

The h100i sounds somewhat like a jet taking off of a runway until i turned off turbo boost short power max and lowered the core voltage offset. Now its bearable. I should add that I only have a gold EVGA 750w supernova G2, and an MSI 2080 ti Trio and 32gb of ram

Are you running the 9900K at stock?  If so, you're fine.

Your motherboard is fine at stock as well.

Only?  You're perfectly fine.  Not sure what you feel the need to purchase, but go ahead if you want.

Doubtful, since it's based on ambient temps, components case airflow, games/programs running, etc.

I definitely think you're worrying over nothing.  47c is basically cold for a computer part.

Hopefully others chime in with their 9900K temps possibly.

Run Prime95 small FFT torture test for at least a few hours then say what your temps are.
