What are the pros and cons of getting PC components shipped in from US to India.

Hello,

I just compared the price of processor in India and USA on amazon. There is a huge difference. The US one is cheaper even if I add the shipping cost by amazon. For eg. Ryzen 5 3600 costs 16500 INR (i.e. 223 USD) on Amazon.in while it costs $174 + $9(for shipping) = 183 USD on amazon.com. Saving $40 is a LOT on budget CPUs like this. I found similar trends on most components and peripherals.

Can I buy these items on amazon.com and get them shipped here to build my own PC or am I missing something?

If I can buy, please help me list out the pros and cons that I might be facing with the build in future.

Also, how easy is it to get warranty services on such products?

Thanks in advance.

Check the import tax situation. I have no idea what it is in India, but as example, in the UK there's 20% VAT, plus handling fee, and possible duty also. By the time you do that, the savings shrink.

Besides that.

Pros:

  • Price looks cheaper
  • Range of products is wider. More custom etc. configurations.

Cons:

  • Everything else.
  • Shipping will be more than $9
  • Since US prices are before tax, you add tax and import fees.
  • warranty issues

My number one cons that would outweight every single pros is warranty issues. You're screwed if they sent you a faulty unit or if your stuff broke in only 2 weeks. And trust me that do happen sometimes.
