Question about the Phanteks Light Strips (PH-LEDK RGB LED)

 I was looking at getting these, specifically the starter combo set. When I was reading reviews to see if they worked with my build; mystic light, my extra 12v rgb header, etc., I found a few people were saying there was a need for a 4-pin adapter or a splitter of some kind maybe to connect to the MoBo. My main question comes to this, will the set of LED strips, and the cord that accompany it, be enough to use with a MSI MoBo or is there a need for whatever $5 cord of some kind?
