Best Quiet Air Cooler for $60(ish)

AsharA

I have had the H110 for a while now and have found it to be quite loud. The temps im getting is 27 degrees on idle and 50 degrees while gaming on the i5 4670K, bone stock clock. I'm looking for some alternatives which are quiet and give me similar temps. I'm in Canada so NCIX would be preferred..

Why don't you just turn down the fan speed? The temps will still say good

But, Noctua NHD-14 is pretty good. And quiet

spend money on 2 sycthe gentle typhoon 1450 / 1800 rpm's from performance-pcs.com .  They're quieter than noctuas at every RPM, they do perform a tiny bit worse, but they're completely inaudible up to about 75% speed unless you're sitting like 3 inches away from your pc.

keep the 110, just connect the fans with a molex to 3 pin adaptor directly off your psu with a second 12 to 5v adaptor. 10 bucks and still better temps and as quiet as the nh-d14

sure. the main noise source are the fans, as they are running on full speed. to reduce that you can run them on 5V. the easiest way to do that is to connect them with an adaptor to your psu.

first you need to go from the molex connector to a fan connecor (3pin), then to reduce the speed you need another adaptor that converts the 12V from the psu into 5V to run the fans slowly and quietly.

you can get them seperately or as a combo adaptor that does both conversions at once. in the end you want to input 12v molex from your psu and output 5v 3pin to your fans.

here is an example of such an adaptor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812311003

Currently my fans are connected to my motherboard but I am unable to control them due to the fans being 3 pin and the connector being 4.

anyways, running them off the psu on 5v will keep them at a constant low speed, as opposed to ramp up under load, or in your case run at 12v all the time.
