Alternatives to Nvidia Shadowplay exist, you don't actually need to use shadowplay to record gameplay.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

I have tried it out on my current PC and it works great in terms of not noticing a performance hit.

However I don't stream or upload gameplay videos to YouTube so I wouldn't use it much anyways.

Also I do wish that later on I would be able to capture the same resolution I am playing on. I play on 2560x1440 but it records it at 1920x1080. So it looks a little down scaled when I watch it.

There are alternatives but there are none that have as little an impact on game performance as Shadowplay does, so technically speaking there are "alternatives" but they aren't really alternatives if you know what I mean.

What an exquisite paradox.

However, you can stream with multicore processors just fine. 8320/8350 are great for the job, and cheap

yea but if you go that route you have to get by with eight fake cores, I would rather have four real ones.

I think it's awesome, but it would be even better if we could use the H.264 encoder built into Intel's CPUs (starting with Sandy Bridge) and/or AMD's graphics cards (I *think* they got dedicated H.264 encoding logics in their newer cards as well but I am not sure).

Having it locked down to a specific generation of GPUs from a specific vendor is pretty meh. Not really blaming Nvidia for it, I am blaming AMD and other software developers for not doing it earlier.

Actually their not fake.Their split, bit of a difference. Integer:Floating point units are not at a 1:1 ratio, but 1:2, its a downfall, but they are true 8 cores.

In saying that, my 2600k Quadcore streams and captures on the fly just fine with 1080p / 60fps while playing games @ 1080p over 60fps

You can.

While the performance hit on the CPU could be minimized by using shadowplay, you can also use intel quicksync in MSI afterburner to capture dx9/10/11 with high bitrates and 60fps just like SP, which employs and uses the same technique. While It may appear I'm bashing on shadowplay, I'm not, I just don't use a Nvidia product so I HAD to find an alternative. The CPU alone or Quicksync does the job just fine.

The onboard hardware encoder/decoder for x/h264 capture. Thats the Magic

I really like it, I just wished it let me record longer videos and my Arma 3 games are normally 90 minutes or so long.

You have no limit to recording time other than hard drive space as of one of the recent updates, but with Windows 7, you are limited to 3.8gb files.

Here's one of my World of Warcraft gameplay videos captured with Shadowplay. Each of the intro games were also captured by me with Shadowplay. The slight blurriness is what it looks like when 1440p gameplay is downscaled to 1080p. Youtube's compressions sucks, as well.

I don't think there are any other capture method out there that offers 'Shadow Recording' feature provided by Shadowplay.

If there is, let me know. I am looking for one to compare with Shadowplay.

Plain old recording everything all the time or miss your omg moments is just inefficient and old.

Of course, if I am trying to record highest quality capture, and I know I have to record everything, ONLY THEN there are alternatives to Shadowplay. But for 'Shadow Recording', as far as I know, there are NO ALTERNATIVES.
