Can you evaluate my server set up

Hardware 

Operating system: Windows server 2016 

Cpu: Amd Athlon II X4 635  

Ram: 8 Gb DDR 3 800 MHZ 

Mother board: Asus M4A88TD-V EVO 

Gpu: AMD Radeon HD 5670 1GB 

 

I am using 2 windows pc and 4 mac computers to access  files.

I am running a program called serviio so my samsung smart tv's and my computers running kodi can access  my movies and tv shows.

I'm wondering how you got a Server 2016 key considering how old the equipment is you've installed it on.

 

Nothing inherently wrong with that just seems strange. Usually people would take to GNU/Linux for that.

 

Otherwise it seems like a nice little setup for a homelab.

Your system will be fine, but could potentially benefit from more RAM and using an SSD for the OS would be a sensible investment as well.

 

Should you run into problems, it's likely the OS is at fault, so try something Linux, like Proxmox or even FreeNAS.

I got a patched copy from a friend. I can send you a copy of the os is you like

I'm good.  Have my own access to Windows Server 2016 Datacenter Edition 64-bit and 2019 Standard 64-bit.

 

Personal preference is different distros of GNU/Linux anyways.

I do like linux just don't know how to set it up properly and I haven't found a way to have my onedrive sync with linux.

If I used onedrive I'd look into it but I don't. Sorry.

The program serviio the best program ever. I am able to access a 4k movie like ford v ferrari witch is a 56gb file and have it play on a 4k Samsung tv and play on a xbox 360 with out the movie laging. even on a old pc that could not even play the movie file in vlc properly
