hey guys - I was just wondering - I have an old rig that I lost the power plug for and Ive found an identical one that is in my rice cooker, would that work to plug into the old computers PSU or will it catch fire somehow.

Old rig:

GTX 1080ti

I5 4690k

16gb ram

Corsair RM1000

Plan on giving it to my Mrs but dont want it to...you know...burn things.

Ah you're talking about the "Kettle Lead" or C13 lead.

You'll be fine.

I'm an IT System Admin with 15+ years worth of XP, plus I've been tinkering computers since I was old enough to hold a screwdriver, so I usually know what I'm talking about.

If it's a normal C13 plug, it will work.

Yeah! Kettle lead. Thank you :) How do I know its C13?

If it looks like IEC C13 you'll be fine.

One last question - do the amp or volt of the lead matter? It says 10A 250v

If it were a really low rating it might matter (as in 1-2 amp, but I don't even know if those exist) but that's perfectly fine. A rice cooker draws significantly more power than a computer.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Unless your PSU is pulling in more than 2500 watts you're good :)
