Well I'm sure that posts like these litter the forums and appologise for the redundancy but being a noob, I really need to make sure that my current hypothetical build will work. I'm planning to do some moderate gaming, light video editing and recording with audacity. Here's what I'm working with:

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87-HD3

CPU: Intel Core i7 4770K

Graphics Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 660 OC GV-N660OC-2GD

RAM: 1 stick (for upgradability) Kingston HyperX Blu 8GB

Power Supply: Corsair RM Series 550 Watt

Case: Corsair Vengence C70

HDD: WD Blue 1 TB

DVD Drive: Asus 24x DVD-RW

Thanks! :)

looks fine but lower the i7 to an i5 and use the money you save from the i7 and get a better gpu

Spoiler

My system is the Dell Inspiron 15 5559 Microsoft Signature Edition

Id say save some money on the cpu, either go with a Xeon e3-1230v3 and a cheaper b85 or h87 board, or switch to a 8350 and am3(+) board.

Therefore you could get like a 760 and maybe 2 sticks of 8GB ram.

throw an SSD in there somewhere for your boot drive, biggest performance upgrade you can make in this build. Also, why not two sticks for ram?

Alright. I've traded the Intel Core i7 4770K for an i5 4570 and the GTK 660 for a Gigabyte GTX 760 GV-N760OC-2GD added an extra stick of the Kingston HyperX Blu 8GB. Unfortunately, I couldn't afford an SSD so that'll have to be reserved for an upgrade down the road. Now, my only concern is will the 550 watt power supply I mentioned above be enough or should I upgrade to the 650 version (on Amazon, the difference is only $10 so I'm not concered about the price)?

$1,000 or under preferably.

What kind of dollars are you using?

A decent 550w is plenty for any single gpu config.

US Dollars. Sorry, I should have specified.

What kind of videos/audio are you editing? Programs being used?

Kind of games being played?
