Before I start

Specs:

MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Edge AC

Intel i5-9400F

GTX 1060 3GB, Single fan

8x2 8GB T-Force RAM

Hitachi 750GB HDD

WD Blue 3D NAND SATA SSD M.2 250GB

EVGA 750GQ PSU

Anyways, I built my computer (first time ever building one so I wouldn’t be surprised if I got something wrong) and it turns on and my RGB fans are up and spinning but my USB ports and HDMI out on my graphics card is not working. I can’t exactly plug it into the motherboard because the i5-9400F doesn’t have an onboard GPU or graphics.

Anybody have any idea as of what I should do?

GPU Power connected? GPU fan working? The case USB or the MOBO USB not working?

Yes, GPU power is connected. Yes, GPU fan is working. The case USB, MOBO USB and HDMI/ Display Port on the graphics card isn’t working either.

Wait, that’s the CPU debug light. Did I screw up my CPU?

Could be, did you plug in the CPU power connector?

THE GPU has to have power connected to it...

Have you done that?

Plus... There are NO USB Ports on the GPU.. What do you mean by : "but my USB ports and HDMI out on my graphics card is not working"?

Yes, I have connected the power to the GPU. I didn’t clarify with the USB’s. I was meaning my front panel USB’s and my Motherboard USB’s. I know that there’s no USB’s on a GPU.

Should I remove my CPU cooler and look? Take it out of the socket, inspect it then put it back in place?

sure, check the pins.

I took a look at the pins finally and there are some bent ones. Is there any way to fix this? Could I delicately use tweezers to fix them?

They are all bent in some way, you mean some in odd directions?

Could fix this with tweezers, but just fixing one pin can be tiring if you have shaky hands and it also stresses your eyes

There is a video by Linus for fixing the bent pins... watch that, BUT I dont think Intel has pins that can bend.... can you post a pic of the bent pins?

I’m sorry, I should’ve clarified. It looks like some of the motherboard pins in the socket are bent but it’s hard to tell.

They are some in odd directions. I’ll try to take a picture and send it.

You can straighten them out, but I would suggest that you RMA the MB and get a replacement.... When you are fixing ghr pins, they could break, or be straight but not have fill contact... So the best would be to get a replacement.

I didn’t but it directly from a site or place. I bought it off of a guy on Facebook Marketplace so I don’t think I could RMA it.

That's probably why he sold you this...

How much did you pay for it?

Try to reach out back to him... if you can.

Did your rig ever run?

The CPU cover is was still on when I bought it. This is my first time building a PC so I probably tightened the CPU cooler too much or something. I paid $80 for it. The rig ran but it never had any video anything like that. The fans ran and everything but not the peripherals. I’ll try to reach out to him. I only bought it because it was being sold for around half the value and I thought I could get a better deal.

Ok...

One of the lessons learnt is never to buy PC components from unknown sources...

Since you cannot return this, can you buy a CPU compatible MB just for testing? You should be able to return it back.

Did you buy all your components from sources like this?

If you can get another MB, we need to test if these pins are even bad, or it could be another component, we can only find out after testing.

Yeah, I understand that now. That was the only thing I bought from sources like that. Everything else was from Amazon or Newegg. I’ll get a new MB eventually but I don’t have the spare money for it.
