Okay so its my first time on this new Pc and I need help optimizing the experience. By that I mean it runs pretty hot at idle and under load it is the stock cooler that came with my 3600x but I used Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut thermal grease instead of the stock paste. 35 to 45c idles with random cpu utilization spikes and under load 65 to 75c. iv'e heard of under volting and tweaking settings in the bios but Im lost when it comes to amd's layout. I came from an old I7 platform. Also seems the cpu doesnt really ever fully idle or drop to base frequency im not sure if this is normal or not. my 4770k OC would go from 4.4Ghz to even under base frequency at idle sometimes going as low as 3.00GHz. chipset and drivers are up to date!

That's fairly normal and you don't have anything to worry about.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

I'm not seeing any issues with thermals here. It's the stock cooler, don't expect grandiose thermal performances from that, but it is still way below the 95˚C maximum temp, so you're fine.

As for CPU not reducing the frequency itself... That's also normal, apparently. You could set the Power Plan in Windows to Ryzen Balanced, see if that does anything. It didn't for me. I don't mind it really. It might not even be worth it as the power usage isn't really reduced regardless of whether or not you downclock it.

All Control Panel Items\Power Options

CPU: AMD Ryzen 3700x / GPU: Asus Radeon RX 6750XT OC 12GB / RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB DDR4-3200
MOBO: MSI B450m Gaming Plus / NVME: Corsair MP510 240GB / Case: TT Core v21 / PSU: Seasonic 750W / OS: Win 10 Pro

The temps are fine.

If you wanna see lower temp, there are many cheap but great cooler options like Hyper 212.

Btw, I'm just surprised at how you have 800W PSU for a set up that will use around 200W. XD

Oh, like which one?
I don't own many coolers in $30 range so please give me other options, I want to try them.

I'd start with:

  • Cooler Master ML120
  • Arctic Freezer 33
  • Raijintek Ereboss
  • Deepcool GAMMAXX GT
  • CryOrig H7

ML120 is garbage. I thought it was broken so I got replacement and it was still bad. Realized that it straight up suck.

Artic 33 seems pretty good, I'll order one !

Raijintek one looks awful but I guess I'll give it a shot

Right... Gammaxx GT. I remember that one. I totally forgot about that.

Cryorig H7 is expennnnnnsive lol

Thanks for the list. I'll try those.

Looks mean nothing in regards to cooling.

My CryOrig H7 cost me $43. It's not expensive.
