I am building a computer and was going to get the Ryzen 7 3700x with the ASUS ROG Strix X570-E Gaming ATX Motherboard and a Nvid 1660 OC. I want to start gaming on twitch would this cause me a huge issue? I was going to update the graphics card later if all works out but on a budget. I do Telecommute for work so thought the Ryzen 7 would do me a solid there. I just want to make sure when the day is done i can fire up the GPU for gaming.

Kinda unbalanced. A 3600 would do just fine for these tasks, then matched with a B450 board you can save a fair bit of money to throw in a better gpu.

What work do you telecommute? Office, browsing? If it's unrelated to rendering or video-editing you're probably good with a lot less cpu-power.

You will barely feel the 2 extra cores compared to a Ryzen 5 3600 for twitch and gaming, while you definitely would feel the difference between a standard gtx 1660 compared to a 1660 Super or 1660Ti.

I work for the IT department of a college I do programming to videos. It is complicated I am like their jack of all trades.I was going to beef up the processor and motherboard and in a few months re-purpose the graphics card for streaming and replace it with one of the newer ones coming out later this year. I have about 1500$ i basically spend 600$ a pay on parts till its built. I was thinking that a good core and board will let me upgrade in July when i get my bonus.

As others have pointed out we definitely need a location and your budget. If you are considering a 3700X I assume we are talking at least $1000. Here's a build to get your imagination going. I took a rather conservative guess regarding your budget and stayed < $1000 for this one.

Alright, that changes things up and opens up a lot more possibilities. Holding off on GPUs is not the worst idea, since new GPUs are rumored to release sooner than later. So are you building an entirely new system or are you looking to upgrade CPU and Mobo for now and GPU later?

I figure getting the processor, board, ram and drives plus a decent gpu will let me game. When the 3000 series nvid comes out later this year replace the gpu and put it in my streaming pc to use for encoding. Gives me something usable now and great for encoding later. If you think i should upgrade i will return the gpu and go with a better RTX2070. I would hate to spend a ton on the GPU now and replace it later.

Alrighty, I totally get where you are coming from. So you have the video card already and is not part of the budget? Sure, you can get a 3700X, Asus Prime X570-P mainboard, Ram and SSD now and use it with your 1660 Super. It does have the NVENC encoder IIRC, so that'll help with streaming. You could also try to get a used GPU - saves even more and you won't lose as much money when reselling later for a new GPU.

That is a great Ideal. I will look into that. When i looked at the new GPU's everyone i saw says wait. Later in the year when 3000 series comes out it will drive the price of the current GPU down so getting the RTX would be cheaper if I go that route or get the better faster can jump a tall building in a single bound 3000 series What card do you suggest i get to go with the ryzen 7? or would the Ryzen 5 do everything i need? I do maybe 4 - 10 videos a week and my current alienware hates doing it.

For gaming and streaming the 3600 should be sufficient. Your GPU will do the encoding.

There are multiple paths to chose from. Get a B450 motherboard which is sufficient for what you are going to do - it'll be able to handle basically everthing from a 3600 to a 3950X and save money for your GPU upgrade. Or you can invest $50-70 extra and get a x570 board which comes with PCIe 4.0 - but I doubt you'll need that if I'm being honest. It will theoretically give you a better upgrade path though. From your comments I got the impression you want something that'll last you for a while and allows you upgrades in the future, which is why I decided to go with the 3700X and X570, but that means ~ $180 less for your GPU. When it comes to raw gaming performance right now: 3600+B450 and 3700X+X570 are basically on par.

What exactly does that mean? Video editing? What kind of footage?

Yea i would like to future proof for a few years. That was why i thought the 3700x would do that i could get the 199.99 motherboard with wifi usbc on the front panel and put that 100$ into the rtx 2070

That is what i am thinking now.

Do you need WiFi? I'll just pretend you have a budget of $1500 and you start from scratch. This is a potential build that will last you a long time and you could buy right now:

Now, if you want to hold off on the GPU and wait for new Gen, then keep the 1660 Super you already bought (or return it and buy one used for even cheaper) and sell it once the new GPUs release. Use that money to buy the equivalent of the 2080 Super when nvidia 3000 GPUs are out.

Thank you. This will help me a ton. I really appreciate the work on my behalf. I will follow this. I just prefer Wifi since i live in an apartment and wiring is not an easy option.

I would simply buy a WiFi adapter card then :)
