So yesterday i turned on my computer and nothing happened. So I unplugged the power supply and plugged it in back in, the fans started spinning the gpu fans started spinning and the cpu fans started spinning. But the power button was not lighting up and it will not post.

Also when I turn it on the cpu area stinks.

All the cables are in.

Help

Might be a blown capacitor of some kind.

Inspect the CPU area for anything that looks out of place (blown capacitor, dark residue somewhere, etc.)

is there any other brown/burnt areas on the motherboard?

If you judge a fish based on its ability to climb trees it will go its whole life thinking its a failure.

Anyone

What troubleshooting steps have you taken?

Have you tried hooting with no videocard, single stick of ram, no drives connected, etc?
