Upgrading from i7 2600

Hi everyone,

So I think it's about time I upgrade/update my setup. I've been using the 2600 since launch and I think I need to move on to another platform.

When I first got it it was used strictly for gaming, but when live streaming was getting more popular I would stream/record/edit now and then. I think it's starting to show it's age when I realized the CPU usage has been getting over 70% when gaming and doing light multitasking.

I've been thinking of getting either the Ryzen 3600 or the 3700x but wasn't entirely too sure. I'm going for longevity and was thinking the 3700x, but the 3600 is just hard to pass up. I don't think 4 cores are even obsolete and I thought 6 cores would be ok for gaming/multitasking, but when I think in the long run the 3700x might just be overall better?

And then I couldn't pick between which kind of am4 mobo to get... the x570 is for the future but the cost is just a huge turnoff.

Yikes didn't mean to draw out this intro to a topic lol was just typing down my thoughts.

Then there's the 4000 series coming out later this year too...What do yall think? Opinions are appreciated!!!

what's the Haswell system in your signature doing?

Oops when I first made this account I was using two PC's at the time, built a haswell system for cousin when I was living with them for 2 months

imo the MSI B450 ATX boards will do. Max boards adds larger capacity BIOS chip with 3rd gen compatiblity into the box, but even non Max boards allow BIOS update without compatiblity CPU so they are just as viable.

was considering doing an itx build though but not too sure...

B450 and X470 ITX boards arent bad, but make sure you have a backup plan if the BIOS they ship with dont work with 3rd gen
