So I've gotten all the way to installing Windows and the system says there is no drive to install Windows to, but there is a fresh sabrent m.2 2tb SSD in my setup rn. What may be the problem?

What motherboard do you have and which of the M.2 slots are you using?

It's a Asus x470f gaming and I'm using the one that doesn't say sata, sorry not sure of the exact name of it

What CPU do you have?

EDIT: oh you said Ahtlon above. Those don't support PCIE SSD's.

It's an athelon 200ge, it's only in there so I can update the bios

Just saw you mentioned it above. Ahtlon doesn't support NVME/PCIE SSD's. I edited my comment:

Get a different SSD or different CPU
If you have a dedicated videocard, just get something like a 1600 AF for  example. Depends on what you have already.

You gave me an idea, well two ideas, 1:can I install Windows to an external drive update the bios swap cpu's then copy the os to the ssd? Or I know I have an old hard drive from a laptop I don't use anymore, could that work?

I don't think I am following you here.. You want to update the BIOS (presumably to use a 3rd gen Ryzen CPU?), so that is why you have the Athlon. Then why do you need Windows and why do you need the SSD?
Just put the BIOS file on a USB drive and update from the BIOS.

But to answer your questions:

Can't recommend Windows on an external drive, but I am not understanding what you are asking here.

Wait in regards to the first statement, I wasn't aware this board even had that feature, it didn't say I could update the bios with a USB, but let me try that and ill see what happens
