I think I broke my mother bird. (HELP)

I recently tried adding a hard drive to my pc while it was on (I know it’s a dumb thing now) and while I was plugging in my sata power the whole system turned of and it won’t turn on. I’ve had this computer for over 4 years without issues.

Ok is the drive still attached? I wonder if its first in the boot order and that is causing the issue?

After this occurred I removed the drive but it won’t turn on.

Make sure to quote people or they wont know you replied

 

So if you are getting ZERO response from the power on button, I would take the PSU and do a paperclip test to see if the PSU died.  If it passes the paperclip test (google it, simple just need a paperclip) then I would move to motherboard next, before assuming its just the motherboard.

EDIT - as I hit save on this post I remembered I one time took the bridge off my Crossfire cause it started artifacting during a esports competitive match...luckily didn't fry my card and I knew better so....theres that lol

If the PSU works, he would clear the cmos and try again right?

Id remove everything and breadboard it with just the Mobo, CPU, 1 RAM stick and the PSU hooked up - no drives, just to see if it can get to BIOS (but would absolutely recommend that CMOS clear just to try a fresh something)

Sounds like some protection potentially kicked on inside the PSU (I checked but only saw a switch no visible fuses on the pics of that PSU).  Does the PC now boot?  If so, count yourself lucky and don't mess with it when its on (I do sometimes just be confident in what you are doing lol)

Or just dont do stuff while its on. Its really not that hard to turn it off to do stuff.
