I am currently making a PC and I have a 1TB NVMe drive but don't know whether to buy a 1TB SSD or a 2TB HD. I know SSD is faster yet for 1TB it is £102 vs the HD which is only £54 for double the capacity. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

If budget is a constraint you can comprise and get a regular sata SSD, they are a little more cost effective but you still get the fast speeds of an SSD. Once you start filling up and need more space adding in a HDD at a later date would be my suggestion.

Depends what you need... If you need faster storage or your just a normal person that doesn't need that much storage, and ssd might be worth it, but if you need more storage, go the hdd, and if you need alot, go 2 2tb hard drives, or one 4tb hard drive, but for most cases 1tb of storage is enough unless you like play 10 different AAA games and edit 4k video on the side and store it locally.

I'm probably just going to use it to do mostly gaming but some light workstation tasks.

Well if you really need the space you could buy the HDD and then later when money arives still buy that 1TB SSD.
Thats how i done it.

Good Idea, thanks.

I would not purchase an HDD over an SSD first. I would go the other way around. Moving windows installations is a giant pain. There is also the option of SSHD which have a small premium over HDDs but accelerate your frequently used files.

You're right my bad. I would still recommend and SSHD over an HDD though.

Agreed, but only if no plans to put in SSD later.
SSHD are not that much faster then a good HDD.
Better to get HDD for storage, live trough the pain of slower loading, then buy SSD later when the next pay-check drops in your hands. ;)

the ssd then should be fine, if you need it at all, or you could just go smaller, and spend less money

I'll probably just get the 1TB one as nvidia has been very nice to us recently and made their graphics cards cheaper than their 10... conterparts
