Does this motherboard need a WIFI adapter.

Anonymous 99

My PC is going to be too far away from the router, so I won't be able to connect it with a cable. So my question is: do I need a wifi adapter for the motherboard or will it work without it?

My motherboard: GIGABYTE B450 AORUS ELITE

Sorry for my bad English.

I doubt very much that is a good adapter, you need at least two antennas for 2x2 MIMO and on a desktop PC generally is better off with a PCIe card.

Router:  Intel N100 (pfSense) WiFi6: Zyxel NWA210AX (1.7Gbit peak at 160Mhz)
WiFi5: Ubiquiti NanoHD OpenWRT (~500Mbit at 80Mhz) Switches: Netgear MS510TXUP, MS510TXPP, GS110EMX
ISPs: Zen Full Fibre 900 (~930Mbit down, 115Mbit up) + Three 5G (~800Mbit down, 115Mbit up)
Upgrading Laptop/Desktop CNVIo WiFi 5 cards to PCIe WiFi6e/7

He’s not gonna get much better besides a pcie card for 25$, and while they are better, there’s nothing in that price range that’s aesthetically pleasing.

Might be able to find the ASUS PCE-AC55BT for 25 Euros or just slightly more though, which is what is generally recommended by people on the forum.
