Corsair 465X Case - does the RAM fit?

Sometimes (only Corsair iirc in fact) they just show which biggest rad fits so 360mm means 240mm and 120mm will also fit. 280mm means 140mm will also fit etc.

It will either have a 120mm pattern to screw it or some large vertical holes.

For me it fits.

Hello,

I'm building a PC in less than two weeks and thought I checked everything.

My case is a Corsair iCUE 465X and my RAM a G.Skill 2x 16 GB Trident Z Neo. It's 44mm high. I'm planning to cool my CPU with a Corsair H100i RGB Platinum AIO.

I bought an Asus Rog Strix x570-E Gaming (if that matters).

I planned to install the radiator on the top side, but I just read on reddit in someone else thread that I might get problems with my radiator and RAM, because the RAM is to high.

Is that true and if yes what could I do?

The 240mm radiator can only be placed on the top side.

On the front side is only place for a 280mm or 360mm radiator according to the official website.

I'm wondering if I couldn't install the radiator + a LL120 fan there?

You can do that instead yes (at the front) since 280 and 360mm are bigger than 240mm.

I'll probably need to drill a hole to into the front right?

Maybe, likely the hole patterns are already there for just intake fans.

No like @Tristerin said there is 120mm x3 holes patterns so 240mm will fit no problem (120mm x2)

Thanks, I'm probably just afraid that i mess something up.

I try to find an example where an 240mm is in the front.

It's just making me nervous that the official Corsair website only mentions 280mm and 360mm rads in the front.

If a 240mm would fit there they would add that, wouldn't they?

Another option would be to write Mindfactory (the seller where I ordered some parts including the AIO) to change the H100i for a H115i that should fit for sure ?

Thank you very much!

This is a bit different then, but I probably want to buy an additional ML120 fan, so the three front fans are similar?

I guess you can see the difference between LL120 and ML120 fans

Yes but let the stock fans at the front they are good, slap the rad behind the 2 top ones, and then add the 2 that comes with the AIO behind the radiator, it should fit and it gives you a push/pull configuration for more cooling (1-2°C decrease but still nice).

Should look like that :)

that would only happen with air coolers. I can't see how ram would interfere with aio radiator.

If the radiator is too low (because low clearance above the motherboard), the AIO can be in conflict with higher ram.

Like something like that :

Oh, I didn't thought about that!

Thank you very much.

All fans would be inhale right?

And if I buy more (LL?) fans I'd install them at the top (2x) and rear (1x) as exhaust fans?

Yes all intake :)

Yes you can do that with a 3 pack but they are very expensive too :P

You can also just place 1 ML rear and the other on top :P

Which ML do you mean? ?

If I understood it correctly LL aren't that good but with a lot of RGB.

ML are for performance with a bit RGB and QL are improved LLs?

3x packs of LL and ML include a Lightning Node Pro while the QL includes a Lightning Node CORE.

I would be fine with either fans, wouldn't I?

If I buy 3x LL fans I'd have an easier cable management time because I could "mix" the front (LL) fans with the top and rear (3 pack LL fans), so only a Core or Pro would be necessary, but both allow for more flexibility.

If I buy 3x ML fans I'd need to connect the front (LL) fans with the Core and the ML fans with the Pro.

Can I connect the Core to the Pro and the Pro to the Mainboard or do I need to connect both Core and Pro to the Mainboard?

I guess it would be the same for QL fans as for ML fans, just that I need to connect both Cores to the Mainboard.

Is that correct or am I understanding something wrong?

IIRC they come with a hub that allows 6 fans (the RGB part) to be plugged in. Also even if the ML are their "performance", they are probably one of the worst static pressure fans especially for their prices :

Hey - sorry to bring up this old thread but I wonder if you mind showing a picture of what that configuration looks like from the side? I am considering doing something similar and am curious how the extra thickness of the rad looks with the lower fan which won't have the extra width. I'm guessing it would be fine because of the PSU shroud hiding most of the bottom fan, but just curious.

I don't own that case, I was just helping the OP with it.

Don't judge my cable management - I might replace it with a pack of cablemods.

Besides that. The lowest LL fan in front isn't really affected by the rad/ML fan combo :)
