X58 Xeon Proccesor Choice

Hello everyone,i decided to build a x58 rig,and maybe flip it.. So far i got the p6t SE board,12gb micron ddr3 ram,psu,hdd...

I wanted to ask you guys 2 things: Is this motherboard good,and will it overclock good?

Second is,what xeon should i choose? I want a 6core one.. Maybe x5660 or x5670?

It's a board. An X58 board. Not great, not terrible. Average for CPU OC, average for memory OC. Feature-wise, it's alright I guess.

1. This board is good, may want VRM fan for overclocking still

 

2. More cores is better, old Xeons are cheap.

Basically everything on this platform overclocks OK, but most require base-clock tweaking, which can be pretty sketchy at times- see the 56-core OC video.

 

There are rumors that certain Xeons- specifically the W3680 and W3690- are fully unlocked, but don't quote me on that- it may only be certain steppings, revisions, etc.

I plan on getting a fan in the back to blow on the VRM's so i dont think that will be a problem.. I will get the x5660 for like 20$.. Seems like a great deal :). Thanks for the help guys
