Can I use Chinese CPU Hygon-中科海光 if not update bios??

Can I use this CPU if not update motherborad's bios??

It looks maybe need special bios.

Motherborad is  SuperMicro H11SSL-i (Rev1.0)

CPU is Hygon 7151。 16c/32t  2.0GHz

anyway, if the cpu is newer than the bios, i think you should update the bios first.

to do it you need an older cpu that it can support.

or if that motherboard suppor cpu-less bios update, you can update it with a usb stick.

They're asking because it's NOT threadripper even though it's Zen based, so while that logic would apply in most cases, it doesn't necessary in this case.

You can't use Hygon CPUs on boards meant for Epyc (likely software block) without hacking (which I dont know if it's possible), and also the Hygon CPUs are rumoured to only be available soldered the motherboards of systems they are bundled in

 

and if you have any questions about these Chinese only stuff, you should go to Chinese forums like Chiphell, not here.

Correct, it seems like any EPYC naples motherboard (at least from Sugon themselves) might be able to run a Hygon chip with the correct flashed BIOS:
