PSU too weak?

So I have an I7-8700 with a 1660ti XC from EVGA. As well, 64GB ddr4 ram. I feel like I should be getting more than 45 FPS on normal settings with RDR2. I’m very confused and have turned to the power supply. Is 500w enough? Because if not I need a recommendation for one capable.

In theory it should not really hurt your fps, keep in mind that RDR2 has had bad performance since like day one. How does this system fair in other games?

CSGO it tanked after the upgrade. Now only does 150 on average, dust 2. Mostly high settings.

If you are looking to upgrade I would look at options from someone like evga or corsair who have some nice low end models that are 80+ bronze and are well trusted

BeQuiet System Power 9 is a great budget option, the 400w version will run your build no issue.

That can not be caused because of the PSU. Check that your drivers are up to date, and check with other titles. Try DDU.

I have seen on videos where some no name power supplies are actually lower wattage output then what they claim when tested.

I have never heard of that causing low fps though.

 

Your parts don't look that demanding but If I had your system I'd upgrade the power supply anyway. I just makes sense to do it.

It is said that 550w is all most people need.

For myself I've been looking at Corsair, EVGA and Seasonic. They are all well recommended brands.

if your psu is too weak your pc would crash and shut off. A psu will have zero effect on fps.
