270 vs. 270x Arguments

Go to solution Solved by Shakaza,

The R9 270 has lower clockspeeds and only one 6-pin connector, while the 270x has two connectors and higher clock speeds. The power connectors allow the 270x to draw more power, which in turn allows for more overclocking, but I've found that my ASUS R9 270 overclocks pretty well with the one connector. I need to devote more time to overclock it as far as I can by adjusting the voltage and power limit.

However, the R9 270x is really expensive on Newegg at the moment, at prices up to $300 or so. It was $200 at launch. I got my R9 270 for $180, but it's $240 on Newegg now.

It's pretty much just 270X = Better performance, a little more expensive 270 = A bit cheaper, not quite as powerful

I'd go with the 270X, the price difference is pretty small

Both great, no real advantages or disadvantages.

I have a 270 and the only disappointing thing was it was to easy to overclock. I literally put all the sliders to the max and it just works which makes me wonder if there is more to give but cant get.

I have the MSI gaming 270 and its so quiet i cant hear it over the system fans even in a poorish cooled case I can only get temps up to 60c

I got a 270x yesterday, it works good but you can't undervolt it with the stock bios which is a shame (overvolting works fine though which is weird).
